Eccoptochile Mariana

(Verneuil & Barrande 1856)

Family : Cheiruridae

End of the Pissotensis Biozone.

 Note :

The 2 Trilobites could belong to the same individual. On the right the complete individual, on the left It's moult.

Conclusion:

It seems that between the 2 species, the Guillieri Eccoptochile is older (Base of the Pissotensis Biozone) than the Mariana Eccoptochile (Summit of the Pissotensis Biozone)

This remains to be confirmed, I have never seen an Eccoptochile in the Sandbian (Ponceti Biozone), in particular at La Touche in Mayenne (Andouillé).

Conclusion:

There are therefore 3 Species of Placoparia (Coplacoparia) well defined and well located stratigraphically :

- The oldest "Placoparia (Coplacoparia) Cambriensis" (located in the Middle Darriwilian, Calix Biozone, Lower Llanvirn).

-  Then the "Placoparia (Coplacoparia) Tournemini" (located in the Pissotensis Biozone of Llandeilo).

-  And finally the "Placoparia (Coplacoparia) Borni" (located in the Lower Sandbian, base of the Ponceti Biozone).
